What is an Indian Head Massage?

An Indian Head Massage sounds odd doesn't it?  Well an IHM is basically a Scalp, face and upper back (shoulder) massage which originates from Indian.  This massage has been practiced in India for over a thousand years.  Benefits of IHM include:-
  • Wonderfully relaxing and calming
  • No need to undress (although it is more effective if your top is removed so I can use massage oil)
  • Acupressure techniques that leave you feeling calm yet energized
  • Only 45 minutes so ideal if you're short of time
  • Reduces stress and neck/shoulder tension
  • Help alleviate headaches and migraines
  • Helps to relieve eye strain
  • Improves blood and lymph circulation in the upper body, aiding removal of toxins
  • Encourages hair growth and improves skin and hair condition
  • Can improve concentration
  • Helps treat sinus problems
  • Helps alleviate insomnia
Can even be used on site in your office.

Self care quick start

Like any new habits, start small and practice regularly.  Here are some of my tips:-
  1. Put yourself first (because no-one else will!)
  2. Get physically active (dance, walk, tennis, skip, whatever is your thing)
  3. Do something you love every day.  Even if it's only for 10 minutes.
  4. Limit your time on social media and spent that time having a relaxing bath, going for a walk, meditating - you get the idea
  5. Get creative - whether through art, sewing, journalling
  6. When your mind is too busy, write your thoughts down on paper and prioritise
  7. Go barefoot (preferably outside on grass or the beach)
  8. Take 100 deep breaths
  9. Read inspiring books/blogs/websites
  10. Get enough sleep
  11. Think positive
  12. Get outside everyday
What would you add to this list?

To Do’s, Tasks and Projects

How do you compartmentalise the above items?  I’m a list maker (whether it is via electronic means or paper or both).  For me;

Tasks are those daily items that ensure everyday life ticks along without issue.  Based loosely on Fly Lady tasks and personal tasks.

To Do’s are a list of items I’d like to do within the next few days (ie have a short term completion date).

Projects are longer term (possibly requiring multiple steps or stages)

How do I deal with these lists:-
Tasks are mentally stored (on a good day LOL!), are also recurring reminders on my IPhone and written within my Filofax.  Yes there is duplication sometimes but I’d rather have two copies than no copies.  Tasks are printed onto A6 or Filofax Pocket size sheets of paper and laminated.

To do’s are dealt with as Tasks.  In my Filofax they are written on the dashboard to the side of the Week on 2 pages view.  I just draw a line through any completed tasks and when I find the page is scrappy, I re-write.

Projects are kept solely on my IPhone within the Trello app.

How do you categorise your To Do’s, Tasks and Projects and where do you store them?

As always, thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.

A Filofax personal journal

For this week’s blog I’m going back to Filofax related matter.  I’ve been journaling for 18 months and it’s been on just basic A5 notepads.  I wanted to make my journaling experience more of a tactile, luxurious, event so decided to look into inserts and Filofaxes.

Whilst browsing Ebay (as you do!) I came across a Personal Portland as a bargain.  I wanted to try a vintage Filofax so I could understand the difference to the newer versions.  So here are the pictures:-

The leather is gorgeously smooth, soft and supple.  I generally find the Personal size paper too long and thin but as you will see from the photos, I bought the Franklin Covey Her Point of View daily inserts (http://franklinplanner.fcorgp.com/store/buy/Ring-bound/Her-Point-Of-View-Ring-bound-Daily-Planner-Refill/prod370009/?skuId=60605) which are a touch wider and have beautiful hues of colour.  Although the line spacing is rather tight, I just write on every other line.

My only gripe is the right hand pen loop is just a little too narrow to keep my fountain pen.  I now keep this Filofax at my bedside so I can relax and journal just before bed.

As always, I welcome any questions or comments left below.

Emergency pick-me up

Hello all.  How are we?  Here in England Spring is finally here and hopefully warmer, brighter weather is on its way.  However, even with the hope Spring brings for the future, I always like to have an Emergency pick-me up toobox.

This is a little make-up case or even just a list of things to do when life really seems to suck.  Here are some of the things on my list:-

Go outside into the fresh air (preferably barefoot and grass but I'm not picky)
100 breath meditation
Read a book
Hold a crystal (doesn't matter which one, whatever you are drawn to)
Self-Reiki
Go do some painting or journalling

I also have a small basket with the following items:-

Candles
Relaxing music
Aromatherapy bath soak
Neal's Yard Remedies Beauty Balm (for a blissful mask during above bath)
Coconut oil for hair mask
Bee Lovely body lotion (such a gorgeous scent)

and if I'm feeling super indulgent (and I've got the time) I like to come out of the bath and paint my nails.  Invariably this time spent (preferably without the kids bickering in the background) helps me feel much happier, calm and balanced.  It's Mothering Sunday here in England soon, why not put together a similar 'Pick-me-up' pack for your Mum.  A 'Pick-me-up' pack make the perfect and most thoughtful gift for others.

What helps me focus and drives me forward (shooting for the stars)

I’m off on a tangent (again – sigh) but I want to share something I’m passionate about.  In fact, this is exactly what my blog is all about.   Sharing with you, my readers, products/treatments that have made such a difference to my life I think you ought to know about them too.

Do you have goals or do you find them difficult to specify?  I’ve always been envious of my sister who has had goals written down since we were children.  In fact she’ll be so busy following those goals for this year she won’t have time to read this blog post !!  I, on the other hand, have never really had goals.  I just sort of amble along hoping things go to plan.  I’ve attended training which tells me about creating SMART goals (specific, measurable, a***, realistic and time related).  This is fine IF you know what you’re goals are.  What about us mere mortals who have never really understood.  Well I have found my answer.

I’d read about Leonie’s annual workbooks and I was intrigued.  For very little outlay I could experiment, I could see if someone could help me find my goals, help we focus my direction.  Well I found it.  I started slowly; but quickly got sucked into the enthusiasm, the guidance, the virtual support and the guiltless abundance.  I bought my first year book in 2013 in about August and what a difference for the final quarter of 2013.  This year I’ve started from January.  I spent the break between Christmas and the New Year, pawing over the Workbooks I’d printed.  But it wasn’t just the printed version I could you update; I could update the PDF files – genius.  I spent time dreaming, dancing, writing, painting, walking and finding my me.

I set reminders in my IPhone for the end of each month to peruse the upcoming month’s goals and check out how I fared with my current months goals.  It’s scary but astounding.  My business is gradually growing; at a rate I can cope with.  I have mental blocks I still need to address about abundance and prosperity but Leonie has workbooks which will help me resolve this issue.

Therefore, I want to offer you the chance to find a little more about yourself and use this knowledge to set your goals and dreams.  Follow the link below to my affiliate link and set a course for the stars:-
