Fluorite is one of my favourite crystals. Not only does it match my corporate colours (purple and green) but I love its ‘stabilising’ properties. Fluorite comes in a range of colours but I am drawn to the violet and green versions.
The name fluorite comes from the Latin word fluere which means ‘to flow’ due to the fact that fluorite melts easily. Fluorite is the natural crystalline form of calcium fluoride.
As Fluorite is meant to help bring calm where there is chaos, I have found it to be an excellent stone to meditate with. I also use it near my computers to help with electro-magnetic discharge.
Some believe Fluorite is also an ideal ‘energy shield’ as it helps to disperse and neutralise negative energy. It is also believe to help with nerve related pain such as shingles, especially when gently drawn across the body.
Have you experimented with Fluorite before? Let me know which crystals you are drawn to and we will look into them further in a future blog spot.
As always, thanks for reading and any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.

Amethyst
Amethyst is probably the most well-known crystal. The beautiful hues of purple makes amethyst beautiful both polished (as jewellery or a tumble-stone) and rough.
The name Amethyst is derived from the Greek word "amethystus" meaning not drunken, or intoxicated. Amethyst is actually purple quartz and is known as a meditative and calming stone. Placing an amethyst under your pillow is said to help with insomnia and protect against nightmares. Using an amethyst grid is supposed to help with headaches.
As Amethyst has a calming and sedative energy, which helps with meditation and focusing of the mind. Just be aware Amethyst fades in sunlight so only re-charge using water or moonlight.
Finally, Amethyst is the birthstone for February and for Pisces.
* What do you like about Amethyst?
* Do you wear any crystals as jewellery pieces?
