Have you ever wondered just how many chemicals you come into contact with every day? It is something I'm particular about and for the last few years, I've been using the following recipe to create my own general house-hold cleaner.
Grab yourself an empty spray bottle, some cool boiled water, a bottle of Create wash (you can of course use a similar additive free soap), Tea-tree essential oil and lavender essentials oils. I generally just splodge the ingredients together but to give you an idea:-
1 cup of cooled, boiled water
1 tablespoon of Create wash (or similar additive free, natural soap)
10 drops of Tea tree essential oil
5 drops of optional essential oils as below)
(optional additional oils; Lavender, lemon or peppermint, dependant on your preferences)
Tea tree is antiseptic and has been show to have significant anti-viral and anti-fungal properties.
Lavender has antiseptic properties and is calming and balancing
Lemon and Peppermint both smell invigorating.
Spray and clean as necessary (using a reuseable microfibre cloth and your eco-credentials raise even higher.)
Have a try and let me know what you think

Complementary therapies and Parkinson’s Disease
April is Parkinson’s Disease awareness month with UK
Parkinson’s Awareness Week 15-21 April this year and this debilitating
condition is a neurological disorder that my Dad suffers from.

My Dad has always been fit and well. He’s never smoked or drank and kept himself
fit as a self-employed plumber.
Approximately 20 years ago (yes, he was diagnosed young) his little
finger started to tremor and after months of tests he was finally diagnosed
with Parkinsons. Luckily my father has
always been a strong willed, determined person and I’m sure this mental
toughness has aided his battle against this condition.
For an explanation of Parkinson’s Disease and further information,
may I suggest you visit the Parkinson’s UK website www.parkinsons.org.uk
My father didn’t believe Reiki would help and this is just
our personal experiences. However, he
was willing to give something different a try.
We find during a Reiki session that Dad’s tremor become less pronounced,
his breathing becomes regular, pain relief increases and it helps alleviate any
stress he may be feeling.
Massage has also helped with his muscular tension and
stiffness. Relaxing oils such as
Lavender, Chamomile, Neroli and Frankincense also seem to help.
Here are some links to some of the websites I have found who
provide information relating to Parkinson’s Disease:-

My crystal super heroes
Following on from
last time’s blog post, I must admit I looove my black tourmaline. My home sanctuary has been undergoing a
renovation and I was beginning to feel far too negative. Within two days of carrying BT round with me
I was feeling much more . . . well happy, positive me again.
I’m going to
continue to use BT (along with some others, keep reading for details) for the
next two weeks as I have a couple of challenging weeks where I’m going to need all
of my calming, soothing and un-conditional love qualities.
So, talking about
un-conditional love I’m going to blog about how I’m going to use my crystal
super heroes. Firstly, I’m going to use
Rose Quartz as it exudes a very gentle and soothing energy. It encourages forgiveness
and helps to let go of anger, resentment and jealousy and promotes love,
self-love, friendships, deep inner healing and feelings of peace. Oh my gosh, just reading this I KNOW this
crystal is going to help me.
BT is next on my
list along with Smokey Quartz to help ‘bounce’ off any negativity. Finally I’m adding Amethyst for its calming
and balancing properties and clear quartz to amplify all this
wonderfulness.
I’m so
excited about using my stones during this testing period. I’m going to create (using both direct and
non-direct methods) a crystal elixir to sip on at regular intervals. Using the same crystal elixir, possibly with
some lavender essential oil dropped in, as a room spray and I’m going to carry
these wonderful crystals on me in a gorgeous little organza bag for the
majority of time.
Kapow –
negativity be gone and replaced with unconditional love.
Come
back next time to find out how my next two weeks have fared.
As always, thanks
for reading and any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.
