Quick catch up

Hello all.  Just a quick note of gratitude or as one of my clients called it “A Pollyanna day”.  Sometimes life throws you a curve ball; I like to try and see the positive in most situations.  January 2015 is certainly testing my positivity already.  My husband had a car accident and although not serious, made a mess of the car.  My positivity – at least my car isn’t a write-off and can be fixed.

This week hubby (again!) has been involved in a work accident.  Although run over by a 2 ton roller; my positivity – at least it was only his lower leg, not his hips/body/head.  Again, hopefully should be repairable.

Both situations require a change to routines and some inconvenience but they could have been a lot worse.  Our boys have been understandably worried about their Dad.  I’m grateful I’ve been working on my patience and the ability to re-think situations.  This has helped me explain the positives to the boys and ask for their help “pulling together as a team”.

Needless to say, Reiki and meditation have been invaluable to:-
·         Help me stay calm on my hurried journey to the hospital
·         Remind myself a car is just a piece of metal
·         Assist with hubby’s physical healing
·         Calm the tearful emotions of our teenage soon
·         Provide a physiological support blanket to our youngest son sitting huddled on my lap

The couple of glasses of wine and the support of our amazing family and friends have been invaluable too.

I hope your start to 2015 hasn’t been quite as testing.

Resolutions, Goals and New Beginnings

Happy New Year dear readers.  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.  Our Christmas and New Year wasn’t quite as relaxing as I had hoped but nevertheless still enjoyable.  It was lovely to spend extended time with my family.

Taking a break from work between Christmas and New Year meant it was easy to find the time to start my New Year’s resolutions of keeping fit both mentally and physically.  A combination of daily Reiki, Meditation and Yoga along with physical exercise has ensured I feel optimistic about 2015.  I’m currently participating in 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene (http://yogawithadriene.com/30days/ via @yogawithadriene) which I’m loving.  Running is not something I’m great at but I’m beginning to enjoy the health benefits so I’m also in a ‘Too Fat To Run’ Jantastic Team https://www.jantastic.me/
Now I’ve announced my January resolutions it’s given me even more motivation to keep going with them – gulp!

So have you set yourself any goals or resolutions for this year?  I’d love to know in the comments below (announcing them to the world helps your resolutions or goals to stick).  Are they physical challenges?  Maybe you’ve even thought about a change in career (or a small business side-line).  If you enjoy natural, organic skincare and would like the opportunity to save 20% off future purchases, I’m looking for members to join my Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic team – contact me for further information.

Don’t forget the Advent competition …

Happening on my Facebook and Twitter pages (First and second links as below).  So I apologise, this is a brief blog post as I’m busy finalising the Advent competition (I'm also a little nervous to be honest, I've never done anything like this before).

I’m also dropping a large hint to Santa "I’d like a Leonie Dawson 2015 Workbook please” as last year’s had such a great impact, not just on my business but in my personal life too.  If you would like to ask Santa for a great goal seeking workbook for 2015, see the third link below for more details.

Oh and I'll be busy organising in my Filofax.  If you'd like to give someone the gift of an organised life, why not buy them a Filofax and send them a link to Philofaxy as per the fourth link below.

As always, thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.

Don’t forget the men

I hope my blogs posts don’t appear to be focused solely on women.  The majority of my blog posts are written with both men and women in mind.  However, sometimes I have written blogs with women in mind.  Well today’s blog post applies solely to men.

First the good news; Men’s skin is thicker than women’s which actually helps for anti-ageing.  Now the not so great news; men’s skin is naturally more oily and prone to blemishes than women’s.   Unfortunately, your skin is also more prone to damage through shaving and regular exposure to the elements.  Making some minor changes to your skincare routine (what skincare routine I hear some of you shout) will help your skin look and feel even better.

Here are some quick swaps which will help you upgrade your grooming routine:-
  • Swap out your soap for a cleansing wash.  Soaps can be drying and cleansing washes are just as quick and easy to use.  A facial wash is also a great start to your shaving routine as it removes grease making your skin easier to shave.
  • Daily shaving removes up to seven layers of skin, stripping the skin of its natural oils and can encourage in-growing hairs.  To help prevent in-growing hairs, use an exfoliating product to remove dead skin cells.  Just a word of caution, don’t use harsh scrubs with artificial beads which not only inflame the skin further, they pollute the ocean too.
  • Ouch – aftershave is full of alcohol, again drying out your skin and irritating it even more.  Exchange for a calming after-shave balm.
  • Does your skin feel tight and dry after washing?  A pea to marble sized amount of moisturiser twice a day (once in the morning and again in the evening) should help your skin feel less flaky.  Smoother, softer skin is also easier to shave too.
Here’s an extract from ww.sport-magazine.co.uk showing some of the products they recommend.

If you would like to browse the range of products I recommend for men, please see here:-

I also offer facials specifically for men using Neal’s Yard Organic products.  We will analyse your existing skin type and tailor a specific range of products to help you look your very best.

As always, thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.
