My top ten Neal’s Yard Remedies organic products

Ok so I’m biased as not only do I love Neal’s Yard Remedies products, I also sell them.  However, I only sell products that I 100% love and use every day myself and in my business.

I started investigating organic products after my cancer diagnosis.  It seems ironic that I was eating organic products but still putting cr@p in my body via my skin.  Did you know your skin absorbs up to 60% of what you put on the skin!  I tried several different organic ranges but kept coming back to NYRO.  My defining moment was when DS2’s eczema disappeared once we stopped using High Street brand bath/shower products.

Anyway enough of the chatter; drum roll please.  Here’s my top 10:-

1.       Frankincense Intense Moisturising cream  – used every morning as my daily moisturiser.  Smells divine, only need a tiny amount and helps with my wrinkles.
2.       Bee Lovely hand wash.  Used in every wash basin and sink in our house.  Smells of honey and citrus fruits and has a ‘happy, sunny’ smell.
3.       Baby bath – used daily for DS2 and the eczema has gone
4.       Geranium and Orange hand cream – used daily in winter when my hands are dry
5.       Multi-vitamins – no nasty fillers and helps to keep me healthy
6.       Detox tea bags – one of my first drinks in the morning to help remove the toxins from my system.
7.       Mascara – again used daily.  Helps condition and lengthen my lashes
8.       Face wipes – lovely and moist.  Super soft and smell divine.  Removes all make-up and if you’re feeling economical, rip one in half as there’s plenty for two days.
9.       Beauty sleep concentrate – for nights when I know I’m burning the candle at both ends and don’t want to look dreadful the following morning.
10.   Frankincense hydrating mist – ideal for those hot flushes.  Super cooling out of the fridge.

That was far too easy, only 10.  Hmm, I may have to do another 10 in another blog post.  I’ve not started on hair products etc…

OK, shameless plug.  If you would like to try these products, here’s the link to my webshop

As always, thanks for reading and if you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear from you below.

This article links so many of my strategies for living a healthier life

This weeks blog article is actually linked back to another article.  Pamela from Reiki Medicine and Self Care posted a link to this article:-

6 Unexpected Ways Writing Can Transform Your Health

I love this article.  It links emotional healing (Reiki can help you with that too) whilst writing with your chosen instrument and paper (my beloved fountain pens and Filofax).  It also mentions how writing can help cancer patients and helps with gratitude and thankfulness (see my blog article on gratitude here).

So what are your thoughts?  Why not try writing down your health issues or what you are thankful for.  It doesn't have to be grammatically correct, just emotionally felt.  Here's to your good health.

As always, thank you for reading and have a great weekend.

"Client Testimonial"

Something slightly different this week.  I was delighted to receive an amazing testimonial from one of my clients and would like to share it with you.  I hope this gives you a personal insight into the therapies I offer, with the aim of helping you feel great.

"I have known Heather initially as a work colleague and then as a friend since 1998.  She is an unassuming, upbeat person who always has a smile on her face.  Whilst she works in I.T., Heather is in tune with her spiritual side and always displays a positive outlook on life and it was probably this, her strength of mind and determination that helped her beat breast cancer 9 years ago.  She fully researched a healthy lifestyle which included Reiki amongst other things and it was at this stage that she found her niche in life and now helps other cancer patients through Coping with Cancer.

My first treatment with Heather was a Reiki session and whilst I wouldn’t say I’m a sceptic, I was unaware what to expect and what the health benefits were.  I can only say that the session changed everything for me.  It gives me a chance to escape from the stresses and strains of every day life and I’m often known to fall asleep during the treatment!  I have also experienced some unique sensations which I won’t detail as they can be different from person to person (and not always experienced) but are nonetheless quite amazing.

Having been bitten by the bug I then booked in for an Indian head massage. I had had these before at beauty parlours and felt as if I’d just been slapped around the head. But Heather’s treatment is so much more and includes face and neck massage but for me, the best bit is the relieving of knots in my back and shoulder muscles – bliss!

As Heather is always looking to continually expand her knowledge, she has also added organic facials and full body massage to her many talents (all self funded).  What can I say on both counts?  Superb!  I hate it when the facial comes to an end and whilst I cannot usually stand having my feet touched, this wasn’t a problem at all during the full body massage - I loved it as Heather was gentle but not to the point where my feet felt tickled.

Heather always greets you with a warm welcome and is very thorough at the beginning of all sessions to assess your current health and any problems since previous treatments.  I cannot decide which is my favourite treatment as they are all fab and choose them depending on how I feel – if I am particularly stressed, I will have Reiki; if I have a big night out coming up I will opt for the organic facial.  Treatment usually ends with a glass of water and I always leave with a feeling of euphoria and looking forward to next time.  I can highly recommend Heather and any of her treatments – you have nothing to lose and everything to gain."

Why I love Reiki

I understand Reiki sounds different/wacky/ridiculous. Before I had a few Reiki treatments, the logical person in my head just couldn’t understand how Reiki works.

To give you a brief background, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer aged just 32 (we have no family history of related cancers either). My world, and my family’s worlds, were completed affected. My sister searched the internet looking for treatments and advice which would help me with my treatment. She booked me in for a Reiki treatment the day before my mastectomy and the operation was successful and went smoothly.
I then needed 6 sessions of chemotherapy and my lovely Reiki practitioner came to my house the same day and gave me Reiki. Caroline was able to give me a Reiki treatment for 5 out of the 6 chemo sessions and for the one session I didn’t receive Reiki, I reacted terribly. I suffered far more nausea, couldn’t sleep and felt dreadful. I began to think there may be something in this ‘Reiki’.

Once I was back on the road to recovery, I investigated Reiki further. I then took a basic Reiki course and spent several years, just ‘playing’ with Reiki by treating family, friends and animals. The response I receive from 90% of animals was the defining Reiki moment for me. Timid rabbits creep into my hands to get closer, previously traumatised horses place their head in my hands and cats sneak into stables whilst I’m with a horse, just to absorb some of Reiki.

Next week, I hope to explain more about Reiki.
