What is an Indian Head Massage?

An Indian Head Massage sounds odd doesn't it?  Well an IHM is basically a Scalp, face and upper back (shoulder) massage which originates from Indian.  This massage has been practiced in India for over a thousand years.  Benefits of IHM include:-
  • Wonderfully relaxing and calming
  • No need to undress (although it is more effective if your top is removed so I can use massage oil)
  • Acupressure techniques that leave you feeling calm yet energized
  • Only 45 minutes so ideal if you're short of time
  • Reduces stress and neck/shoulder tension
  • Help alleviate headaches and migraines
  • Helps to relieve eye strain
  • Improves blood and lymph circulation in the upper body, aiding removal of toxins
  • Encourages hair growth and improves skin and hair condition
  • Can improve concentration
  • Helps treat sinus problems
  • Helps alleviate insomnia
Can even be used on site in your office.

Self care quick start

Like any new habits, start small and practice regularly.  Here are some of my tips:-
  1. Put yourself first (because no-one else will!)
  2. Get physically active (dance, walk, tennis, skip, whatever is your thing)
  3. Do something you love every day.  Even if it's only for 10 minutes.
  4. Limit your time on social media and spent that time having a relaxing bath, going for a walk, meditating - you get the idea
  5. Get creative - whether through art, sewing, journalling
  6. When your mind is too busy, write your thoughts down on paper and prioritise
  7. Go barefoot (preferably outside on grass or the beach)
  8. Take 100 deep breaths
  9. Read inspiring books/blogs/websites
  10. Get enough sleep
  11. Think positive
  12. Get outside everyday
What would you add to this list?
